Of the many roof bosses in Norwich Cathedral this Green Man with his monk-like appearance and menacing gaze is a favourite of mine.

The pulpit  has this Green Man with foliate surroundings he dates from 1889 when work was undertaken to replace the pews and pulpit.

Ethelbert Gate, Norwich is the older and more decorated entrance gate to Norwich Cathedral. The Green Man is at the hub  of the vaulting and there are other bosses that are not Green Men.

St. George, Tombland.

Quite hard to see, this  smiling Green Man roof boss in the porch roof vaulting dates from c 1490 CE. Tombland means empty space.

St. Michael at Plea.

Roof boss south side first from the left. There is also a Green Man roof boss to the north side. The church now used as an SPCK bookshop and cafeteria open from 10 am to 4 pm Mon to Sat.

Misericord in the choir stalls north side of the main aisle. Misericords were designed to lean against during long periods of standing during church services.

St. Mary, Redenhall. This Green Man forms part of the organ  case decoration, the other carving can be found on the 'Feature' page and shows a  rare Green Woman. The organ case  has  the dates 1837-1879, the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria.

There is also a Green Man roof boss which is from a much earlier period, probably 14c CE

All Saints, Salhouse, base of the image niche above the south porch.

Don't miss on the exterior of the north porch (part of a frieze) a Green Man and the bench end in the choir stalls, left hand side

St. Andrew, Saxthorpe.

On the rood screen this panel on the left hand side of the aisle (left-hand quadrant) has this Green Man.

There is a second Green Man on the left hand panel to the rear of the pulpit (right- hand quadrant).

Parish Church of St. John the Baptist, Trimingham.

One of two Green Man carvings, left hand side of the entrance to the chancel. The second is on the right hand side  chancel entrance.

St. Botolph, Trunch.

The font has a magnificant carved canopy c 1350 CE one of only four in this country. There are several Green Men carvings (quite roughly carved) such as the one shown here.

Other carvings show a dog chasing a hare amongst others.

Also find the grave slab (1721) with skull and foliage.

This Green Man is in the sedilia.

There is a second Green Man peeping through vegetation - it's less clear if this is a 'true' Green Man though.

St. Peter, Wolferton.

Part of a frieze on  the  screen of the south chantry.  There  is  a  second  Green  Man  also  on  the  frieze.

St. Mary, Worstead.

This cheeky Green Man can be found above the west window.

There are several more Green Men, three corbels and three roof bosses.

St. Andrew, Wood Dalling

One of my favourites is this Green Man who welcomes visitors to the north door (on the right hand side). He has a look of surprise or anger.

This magnificant Norman archway now protected by a porch has some fantastic carvings.
